Genitourinary Anomalies
A child's urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, bladder) and genitalia are different than those of an adult,
and the medical and surgical management of problems in these areas requires a different approach on the
part of the treating physician.
Pediatric Urologists are urologists who have chosen to subspecialize in the care of children with
genitourinary anomalies. Each of our pediatric urologists has completed additional training (a fellowship)
in pediatric urology at one of the nation's premier children's hospitals to further their expertise.
Managing a diversity of problems ranging from complex genital and urinary tract disorders to socially
debilitating voiding abnormalities requires the skill of a microsurgeon and the reassuring touch of a
friend and confidant.
At the Children's Hospital of Oklahoma, we have assembled a team of experts in the diagnosis and
management of complex genitourinary anomalies. Our physicians have extensive experience with major
reconstructive surgery, employing cutting edge technology with improved outcomes and shorter recovery
times. The expertise William G. Reiner, MD, has in
psychosexual development enables us to offer a unique, comprehensive approach to the care of our patients
and their families. In addition to our clinical efforts, we have a commitment to improving patient care
through research, and have established a productive basic science laboratory with a focus on tissue
engineering.
Our goals are to provide your family with not only a diagnosis, but also a thorough understanding of
your child's problem and, if need be, to surgically correct those problems with the skill and care
necessary to obtain excellent results.
