Daniel J. Culkin, MD, FACS is the Chairman of the  Department of Urology and the Program Director for the fully accredited Urology Residency training program.  He has held these positions since May of 1994.  His educational accomplishments include a Bachelors of Science from Creighton University (1972), a Masters of Science from Loyola University of Chicago (1975).  He received his Doctor of Medicine from Creighton University (1979).
 
Dr. Culkin's clinical training includes two years of General Surgery training and three years of Urology residency at Loyola University Medical Center (1979-1983).  He completed additional years of subspecialty fellowship training in both Neuro-Urology and Endourology (1983-1985).
 
His administrative responsibilities include Director of Urologic Oncology, Co-Director of the Endourology/Laparoscopy Fellowship Program, Director of the Female Urology Section and Chief of the Urology Section at the Oklahoma City Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center.  He is also very active in the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) and serves as a member of the executive committee of the SWOG Genitourinary Committee.  He also serves as the SWOG Penile and Adrenal Organ Site Chair.
 
Dr. Culkin also has quite varied clinical and basic science interests.  His research interests include bladder inflammation, urologic oncology, female incontinence, renal stone disease, renal transplantation, reconstructive urology, and minimally invasive urologic surgery.  He has published over 250 articles, chapters, abstracts and presentations and has editorial responsibilities for the Journal of Urology, Urology, Cancer, Lancet, and Prostate.
