Donald B. Halverstadt, MD, has been affiliated with the Department of Urology at the Children's Hospital of Oklahoma for over 30 years. He graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. degree, and subsequently received his MD from Harvard Medical School. His residency in General Surgery and Urology was completed at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Halverstadt came to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1967 to establish a kidney transplant program and a children's urologic surgery program. Through his strong support of academic urology, he earned the title of Clinical Professor of Urology. However, he relinquished this appointment in 1988 to serve on the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. He was subsequently appointed to. the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents. In 1999, he served as Chairman of this Board. He is a member of the Corporate Board of Trustees for the Presbyterian Health Foundation and serves on the governing board of the consortium of campus hospitals now known as the OU Medical Center.
He serves on the Board of Directors of Triad Hospitals Inc. and chairs the
board's Compliance Committie. He also has the honarary title of Senior
Associates Head Coach of the OU Men's basketball team.
