Puneet Sindhwani, MD joined the Department of Urology at the OU Health Sciences Center as an Associate
Professor in October, 2005. He is a graduate of the six-year urology residency program at the Medical
College of Ohio in Toledo. Upon graduating from his residency. Dr. Sindhwani accepted a position as Chief
of the Urologic Surgery Section at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He also
served as an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Louisiana State Health Science Center, Department of Urology,
also in Shreveport. Among his many duties includes serving as program coordinator for the prostate
brachytherapy program at the VA Medical Center, as the male infertility consultant for the Center of
Fertility and Reproductive Health in Shreveport. Also of note he is well trained in renal transplantation,
with his 5th year of residency devoted to this subspecialty along with a research component. He has an
impressive list of publications and presentations at regional and national meetings. His research interests
include the use of curcumin, a spice often used in Indian cuisine, in cancer prevention; investigative trials
for female stress incontinence, participation in the PIVOT AND SELECT cancer prevention trials and intergroup
NCIC and SWOG Phase III randomization trials.
