Pediatric Urology Fellowship

The Department of Urology, Section of Pediatric Urology has received accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education to offer a two-year pediatric urology fellowship starting in July, 2007.

This fellowship is under the directorship of Bradley P. Kropp, M.D., F.A.A.P., Chief, Pediatric Urology Section, Department of Urology at the OU Health Science Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Additional faculty members include Jeffrey B. Campbell, M.D., F.A.A.P.; Dominic Frimberger, M.D. and William G. Reiner, M.D.

The two-year fellowship includes 12 months of research time and 12 months of pediatric outpatient and surgical urology. The program will offer unique research opportunities during the first year with the use of a state-of-the-art research facility devoted to tissue engineering for bladder augmentation, as well as the opportunity to work with outstanding nationally recognized basic science researchers. Additionally, several clinical research trials on reflux and intersex are also available for the fellow to participate in. During the clinical year, the fellow will work with each of the pediatric urology surgeons and learn not only general pediatric urologic surgery techniques, but also distinctive subspecialty surgical protocols such as major reconstructive pelvic, genital, and renal surgery,as well as laparoscopic reconstructive procedures.

Additionally, during the clinic year, the fellow will be highly involved in multispecialty treatment modalities for children with myelomeningocele, intersex, exstrophy, and other major genitourinary birth defects. One truly unique outpatient opportunity available during this fellowship is the opportunity to work with a world renowned child psychiatrist and urologist who specializes in the psychological and physiological aspects of children born with anomalous genitalia.

The fellowship is open to urologists who have completed an ACGME-accredited urology residency and are board eligible/board certified.
