The IC Research Coordinator is Karen Mataranglo, RN, BS, who offers interventions to help the IC patient.

For Dr. Culkin's patients, the Coordinator does a one-on-one counseling for the newly diagnosed patients as well as those who simply need an update on IC self help. The patients are provided with a plethora of information encouraging them to take an active role in managing their disease. The patient is told IC is 75% self care and 25% clinical care. We are there to help them with that 75%!

Karen is available by phone (405-271-6900) as well as having an IC Hotline (1-800-947-6472). The phone contact is crucial. Frequently, that initial contact, (often from points well beyond Oklahoma), is the first time an IC patient has reached out to find out they are not alone, and we are devoted in helping them.

One of the IC patients through Yahoo Groups! set up okwithic, another way to connect with one another. There have been some great helping hints gleaned from this method.

IC Research is constantly searching for any means to help our patients. We love what we do!
