Pediatric Urology

In February, 1998, the Donald B. Halverstadt Center for Excellence in Pediatric Urology was opened within the Children's Hospital. The facility honors Dr. Halverstadt's many years of service to the Department of Urology, the teaching hospitals and the The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. This is a 6,000 square foot, child friendly state of the art facility for the diagnosis and management of children's urologic diseases. Pediatric Urology referrals are received from Oklahoma City, throughout the State and from three neighboring states. Recently a magnet center for the evaluation and treatment of child and adolescent psychosexual development issues was created and housed in the Halverstadt Center. This facility is devoted to identifying and assisting children and their families in dealing with physical and psychological issues associated with gender dysphoria, intersex and bladder exstrophy conditions.
