PGY2

In the PGY2/Urology-1 year, the resident is considered on the Urology Service and rotates through the Presbyterian Tower, OU Physicians Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. However, two months of specialty traology Clinic, and Vining in intensive care and radiology are required. As well, there are four months of protected time for research endeavors. During this year, the resident becomes familiar with vascular access, renal transplantation, uropathology, urodiagnostics, and urotherapeutics. Skills are acquired in basic endoscopic techniques and difficult catheterizations. Indications for considering the use of prosthetics such as penile prostheses and artificial urinary sphincters are learned. Basic surgical skills learned the PGY1 year are improved upon. In addition, competence must be attained in renal, scrotal, penile, and prostate ultrasonography, urodynamic procedures, and basic scrotal surgery.
